I have been so excited to blog this wedding since the moment I loaded the photos after the wedding! I knew when we talked over the phone with Cristina about their Great Gatsby inspired wedding plans that this was going to be an amazing wedding I was going to be thrilled to be a part of.
Cristina and Dmitry got ready with friends and family at Houston’s historical downtown Hotel Icon. Champagne, laughter, and tears of bittersweet joy, were spent in some of my favorite moments of the wedding day. One thing I love about being a wedding photographer is getting to capture not only all of the pretty details and shiny rings during getting ready, but the candid moments handing Dad his embroidered handkerchief, watching the girls open their fun bridesmaids gifts, the guys cheering over a drink, mom helping her daughter into her dress,.. all of the truly intimate moments that really matter.. before the walking down the aisle, the cake cutting, the bouquet tossing, and the partying.. just the simple moments spent between the closest of the couple,.. that’s the best part. Capturing the love and moments behind the scenes.
After everyone was ready we headed over to the Holy Rosary Catholic church where Cristina + Dmitry exchanged their I Do’s among friends and family. They even had a mariachi band for the ceremony music! After the ceremony they had their Great Gatsby inspired reception at the beautiful Majestic Metro downtown a few miles down the road. I especially loved the special music by Dmitry’s mother that was part of the band that played live music after dinner… the big gold cake by Cakes by Gina (all the heart eyes for gold).. and the sweet toasts made by their favorite people. I can’t help but tune my whole heart into the toasts during weddings and get to learn even more about my couple. It was so obvious how loved they were by everyone, how kind they were to not only each other but everyone in that room. There was so so much love! I also couldn’t get over their awesome custom wedding snapchat filter haha! (Yes, I totally played with it).
We truly had a blast and it was hands down one of my favorite weddings of the year so far. Thank you both for allowing us to be a part of your beautiful and unique day!
