One of my favorite cities in Texas has always been good ol’ Galveston. It has so much historical charm and anytime my husband and I want to get out for the day, it’s our first city to run to. Sweet Nadia and Tor chose the PERFECT place in G-town to get married. It was a sunny day with a light breeze, a beautiful sunset ceremony and classy reception filled with SO much dancing throughout the night. It was an honor to be a part of such an exciting day!
Everything about this wedding is fun and unique to me. Nadia wanted a traditional wedding dress, but she still wanted to have her Indian traditions incorporated throughout the wedding as well. It was a mix of the best of both worlds, and it was so exciting to be a part of these two beautiful families’ special day.
When I first heard from my bride Nadia and asked about her love story, she said “I’m a Texan, he’s Norwegian,..and we met and now live in NYC together!” Nadia’s Hotel Galvez wedding took place in Galveston Island this last January. I had told her when we first started talking that I never shot a wedding there before, and they trusted me enough to give me the chance anyways ;).It’s Texas.. so just because it’s a January wedding, doesn’t mean it’s a winter wedding by any means. Nadia and Tor had beautiful spring colors, pinks, golds, oranges, and greenery throughout her reception.. with Indian, Texas, and Norwegian traditions incorporated throughout the day. We absolutely adored her boho-chic lace dress from BHLDN that she paired with a baby’s breath floral crown by Island Flowers. And you know it’s going to be a fantastic wedding when there’s not just one, but two wedding dresses. Nadia later changed into her Indian wedding attire to dance the night away with her groom on the colorfully lit up dance floor inside the Galvez’s Terrace Ballroom. The couple loved that the hotel had so much historical and romantic charm.Guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the beautiful Terrace Ballroom while the couple and family took their formal portraits. When Nadia + Tor was introduced to the reception they were greeted by their closest family and friends to watch them stride into their first beautiful dance. They had a Polaroid guest book table setup that guests were entertained with the entire evening, along with an Anniversary box for everyone to write a note as they would seal the box that night and not open again until their first anniversary. I thought that was a unique idea to remember their guests by. We made sure and snapped a Polaroid of the couple at the end of the night so they could join in on the festivities! I remember talking to Nadia in the hotel room while she was getting ready, and she had told me she wanted a beautiful, organic, and colorful wedding. Nadia got just that with the simplicity and airiness of everything from her beautiful gown, decorations, seagulls in the sky, air in the palm trees, and the sunset as they walked down the aisle.
Here is my very FIRST wedding of 2016 (yes, I’m that behind, don’t judge me.) and I’m so excited to share it with you!
