Fernanda & Rhodes | Rice University Wedding

I’m beyond words excited to share this beautiful June wedding at Rice University this summer. I fell in love with these two as soon as we met! Their joyfulness + smiles are contagious and we had SO much fun at our engagement session (also at Rice, you can find it here!) and was truly looking forward to their wedding day at the Cohen House + Rice Chapel! It was my first wedding here at Rice, and I was so excited they trusted me to be a part of their day anyway.

The girls got ready in the Card room at the Cohen House, while the guys were upstairs on the second floor in the Presidential room. Fern while they were getting ready.. was so calm, excited, sweet, and a perfect bride.. there’s truly just not enough to say about this girl. It was perfectly organized and coordinated by Sarah Lydia Events! No detail was left unfinished.. from a fun Photo Booth (haha, there’s a special little something in that collage by a moderately well-known politician), a family tree of photos and memoirs set out for everyone to see in the cocktail room, a beautiful piano with human-sized champagne glasses and flowers.. a dining room with lavender embelished plates, a bride + groom piñata!!.. a cigar bar that friends + family enjoyed at night, ..+ more. 🙂  The ceremony took place right around the corner at Rice at the Rice Chapel. I was at first admittedly a little (just a little) intimidated by the darkness of the chapel, but then started looking around and saw all kinds of lovely lighting shining in different directions throughout.. and it ended up being one of the coolest chapel’s I’ve photographed!

They practiced their first dance right after our couple one-on-one time (it was so awesome to see that behind the scenes and intimate moment!), and when they performed it in front of everyone as soon as they were introduced into the reception, it was flawless! During their toast, her sister said that on Fern + Rhodes’ first date, Fern came home ecstatic and knew that was the guy she was going to marry. We don’t always get so lucky to know right away, but when we do that intense connection is astonishing! Everyone danced the rest of the night (seriously, they kept that dance floor full the WHOLE time!!), enjoyed the cigar bar, a beautiful dinner buffet, and guests left the night with a cute bag of coffee beans (their last name is Coffey!) and a sparkler exit to send the bride + groom to their honeymoon!

Make sure and check out the vendors that made this day possible at the bottom of the post!
