Crazy story, like, 5 or 6 years ago I think!? I met these sweet two at a previous client of mine’s wedding, and I ended up photographing a few bridesmaids weddings haha but we ran into each other at a few more weddings in the future needless to say, and when Katelyn emailed me and said that Kris proposed to her on Thanksgiving and how they had been dating officially for 4 years, but known each other sense they were BABIES… I was so ecstatic because of the whole small-world and oh my goodness just YES yayay! 🙂 Love is so good! I know, goosebumps. Anyways, the same bride of mine from previous years ago where we met them.. was also one of Katelyn’s bridesmaids on her day as well! I love having so many small-world connections with my couples. It makes my job feel homey 😀
We had so much fun photographing this southwestern themed wedding with Cactus, succulents, romantic candles and decor, moody reds and florals.. with SO many unique details from the groom’s tie to the antler and succulent centerpieces. I loved everything it seriously could not have been more dreamlike. It was also so great to see familiar faces from previous wedding clients and their families and previous couples starting a new family too!!
Kris got ready in the groom’s room at Madera Estates while Katelyn was in the bridal suite with her bridesmaids and family. There was so much room to get ready in each area and things to do and snack on throughout the morning. Champagne for the girls and beer for the fellas! I loved it!
They had a sunset ceremony and the sun peeked over the ceremony backdrop so perfectly. Their images had such a golden and sunny vibe through them and it was so fun to play with the light, After their ceremony we did quick family formals, the wedding party got together for a few shots and the couple headed off to the reception! That’s the PERKS in doing a first look 😀 Earlier before the ceremony, K + K wanted to read their letters back to back before seeing each other (we made it happen it’s not even staged!!) and then after they read their letters they had a “first look”, It was so sweet and it was making all of us tear up and laugh at the same time. We had a quick-fun little couple’s mini session and headed back to be hidden away before the ceremony. This gave the couple the opportunity to have more reception time and less time guests have to wait! 🙂
