I adore this little park in the middle of Downtown Houston. You would have no idea it was there, just a short walk away from the hustle-and-bustle, and a historical, calm, field of grass and pond with ducks awaits. The St. John Church is a little chapel with history, check out more about it on The Heritage Society at Sam Houston Park website. After their ceremony and some couple portraits downtown, we headed out to their dinner reception at the always stunning (and delicious) Vic & Anthony’s downtown.
Raegan and Eduardo saw a previous wedding we had photographed here at the Sam Houston State Park and it inspired them to do something intimate there as well! This sweet couple met in high school and started dating in college. With a little resistance, Raegan finally said yes to a first-date with Eduardo and they have been inseparable sense. When choosing their venue, they spent a lot of time looking over venues and had this to say about it! “We spent a lot of time looking at typical wedding venues all over Houston. We probably looked at 20+ venues in search of the right one. After a while we were getting tired of looking and had’t really found one that we were head over heels for. We sat down to talk about what we really wanted out of our wedding and decided that we changed out minds of wanting the “big” typical wedding and decided on something small with just our close family. We really wanted the focus to be on us two and celebrating with our loved ones instead of having a bigger wedding with a big party reception. You were the one who gave us the idea of the tiny chapel downtown and once we visited it, we fell in love!”
I love when people get married on significant dates and not just a random one! Here are some words from the bride for why they chose their wedding date! “One reason this day is so special is because of the actual date, 10/26! 10/26 was the day he asked me to be his girlfriend (our dating anniversary) and we were that chessy couple that celebrated our day every year and it was always important to us both. Then a few years later he proposed in Central Park on our anniversary trip to NYC on 10/26/17, and it was perfect! After some time to think about it we both decided to keep our wedding date the same as the others despite so many people telling us we needed a new date. It felt right in our hearts because it has always been our special day and we didn’t want that to disappear when we got married.”
Ever wonder how a bride chooses her perfect-day dress? The bride said she wanted her groom in a traditional black tux and bow tie. She had her dress picked out for a little bit and knew in her heart it was the one, but could not find it anywhere! She called all over and finally found a shop that had it and as soon as she put it on there was no doubt (just like her hubby!) it was the one!
The colors (blush, white and hints of gold) were not originally what the couple had envisioned but as they started planning the colors felt so romantic and drew her into them.. From the couple: “The focus for the whole wedding is the love and us becoming husband and wife so I added in lots of personalized touches – our names, last name, initials, and date – so that everyone could feel the love and between us and the importance of that day. There is also a big dessert bar with weeding cake because we LOVE dessert so we wanted lots of yummy sweets for everyone to enjoy!”
Kind Words We are Swooning Over
“Choosing yall as our wedding photographer was the quickest and most certain decision we made out of the whole wedding planning process! I fell in love with your style of photography and I loved how it made me feel when I looked at your photos.”
I always ask my couple for any advice in the wedding planning/overall process and the bride said: “try to enjoy the wedding planning process and make sure everything is truly what you want for your big day. Enjoy your engagement and take your time. You’re only engaged for a short amount of time so make the best of it and appreciate that time with your fiance!” Such great advice!
This intimate and romantic day was filled with details, love, and delicious dinner (we even got a take-home-macaroni and it was DELICIOUS!). Thankful for sweet couples like this and for the chance to document and be a part of such an amazing evening.
