Ryan + Nick got married at the gorgeous new C.Baldwin hotel in downtown Houston, TX. They were one of the first few weddings at this hotel and it was an amazing experience getting to document their day there. Ryan had a gorgeous suite at the top of the hotel with an amazing open glass window view of downtown with fabulous lighting for preparation photos (Nick’s adjacent suite had the best floor to ceiling lighting with a corner suite for moody groom portraits and downtown views) I loved working by the window light when stying her bridal details. It really makes a difference in photos when you have a really great source of light all throughout the day, and this sweet new hotel did not disappoint.
My favorite part of their wedding day was their vows… I remember thinking while photographing their ceremony how authentic, genuine, personal, and heartfelt their words were to each other.. I was pushing back tears (how does that never stop happening even after all of these years photographing weddings?!) during the vows and I could feel how they just floated into each other’s words as if there was no one else in the room but them. It’s truly a great experience as a photographer to be a witness to so many great love stories and this one was a forever memorable one for me.
When Ryan said “these photos mirror my soul… I’m taken aback” I felt so grateful to be able to call this my job… to know and feel that being a memory documenter, keeper, creator, painter, artist, is basically everything my dreams could have been made of.. what I know must be my calling from God, or he wouldn’t continuously keep blessing me with amazing clients and endless work…I feel at peace…and it’s so special knowing my heart is on the walls and albums and minds of so many people, it really makes me feel alive.
