While we were in Spain photographing this sweet couple’s first maternity moments together — they decided they wanted to know the gender of their baby in a wonderful way. On our last night in Spain, sitting in an antique hotel room by the ocean, we awaited the link from our momma to send and see for the first time what the gender was. When we opened the link and saw what their baby was going to be – Sarah and I both cried!
We had to hold in this secret for a whole month, and when we got back to the states, started planning a gender reveal. Hannah with Edges Wild Studio, my amazing associate Sarah, and I – planned and designed with every special little detail in mind to surprise them with the sweetest baby-girl news. We met them at a nearby parking lot, blind-folded them, and we drove to the studio which was especially chosen for the pink details throughout the room from the furniture to the chandelier and artwork in the room – it matched perfect for the idea that I had in mind + I instantly fell in love when I saw it. We led them up to the studio room, still blind-folded, and had their doggies along for the adventure too! Hannah had made some doggy necklaces so they could be a part of baby-sisters reveal of excitement alongside momma and daddy!
I’ll never forget the look of excitement and joy when they took off their blind-folds, looked at each other, and saw a garden of gorgeous pinks and greens with a special Birds of Paradise floral added to. The Bird of Paradise was part of their wedding florals in Thailand and I wanted to incorporate that in the design and Hannah did it so well. Pure joy in the room, surrounded by the soft pastel pinks, they opened their eyes to their new adventure: it’s a girl! We could finally stop holding in that secret (phew!) and it was such a pleasure to create something so special.
From Thailand to Spain — to the gender reveal, hospital birth, maternity, and newborn photos – we were alongside for the most amazing ride and it truly means the world that we were able to memory keep all of these precious moments. This is why I keep doing what I do, and could never imagine doing anything but.
