Happy August! Can you believe July is already over? This year has probably been the quickest year of my career and I am finally starting to catch up on some more recent sessions I’ve photographed! Today’s my official day off but I actually secretly enjoy blogging so it’s always a good day to catch up on it. 🙂 In honor of Thu + Thong’s wedding next weekend at Big Sky Barn, I also wanted to blog their engagement session before they got married haha! We are so excited and can’t wait to be a part of their day.
I had an absolute blast hanging out with this wonderful couple at our engagement session! They were so flirty with each other and naturals in front of the camera. Me and Thu had a Skype conversation a few months before our session when they booked us for their wedding, and we immediately clicked and she reminded me why I love doing what I do. I love connecting with my couples and getting to know people like them! 12 more days!! XOXO
We had a beautiful weather day the evening of their photos on the lake and set up a little picnic scene and they toasted to their engagement! I love documenting not only the wedding day but moments along the way. Being engaged is such an incredible feeling.. exciting, new, adventurous, with so much to look forward to. I love that they wanted to have a nature-session and just enjoy the day with each other and have it documented. I highly encourage my couples to do engagement sessions with us before their wedding day to not only become more comfortable in front of the camera, but to get to know each other better and have a better relationship/communication on the actual wedding day :). After engagement sessions.. shooting couple portraits at the wedding with me can be even more easy! You already kind of know some of the poses and ways that we work and little tricks 😉 and can relax a little bit more knowing that “hey, we’ve already done this and we know it’s going to be awesome!”.. anddd you already know how ridiculously awkward I am at that point and just don’t care ;). I promise, it invests in the future of your wedding photos! Plus, who doesn’t love to have a ton of photos?! 🙂 You can also get the chance to test out your hair and makeup artist and an excuse to already be super-cute for a post-session date night with future hubby. (Speaking of, we have a list of preferred hair and makeup artists if our brides ever need suggestions!)
Embrace your engagement, take it in, it’s so quick and so sweet.. enjoy the sunsets and the wooded walks in love, and all the sweet new beginnings 🙂 Enjoy some favorites! Keep an eye out for a future feature coming up with these two as well, with somewhere PRETTTTY awesome. I’m so happy they loved these photos as much as I did and when I got the amazing email from Thu the next day saying how in love with them they were, I once again was reminded WHY I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. Pinch me <3. okay, don’t, but f’real. Check out this epic couple’s love session below and a little about their proposal 🙂
The Proposal: “In December of 2016, he and his friends
planned a surprised proposal for me in Colorado. We were hiking in
Estes Park where he got down on one knee on the frozen Bear Lake
in Rocky Mountain National Park and proposed to me. Of course, I
said yes. Hikers around there were cheering for us, it was one of the
most special moments of my life. We are excited to start this new
adventure together and cannot wait for our wedding on August 12,
2017.” – Thu
