I had been wanting to photograph a wedding at this venue the moment I saw it, so of course when Jennifer e-mailed me last year for a wedding photographer I was ECSTATIC! Her wedding at the River Oaks Garden Club took place a little over two months ago on April 11th. We were watching the 100% rain weather report like crazy as we all had hopes to have the ceremony outside. It held out all day for us mostly, with just a few sprinkles here and there. Every detail that went into this day was planned out perfectly. Egna Olmos with A Particular Event did an immaculate job and was such a pleasure to work with. There was no place short of a picture opportunity at this gorgeous venue – vines, brick walls, trees, arches, and more.
I enjoyed getting to know this couple over their wedding journey. When I first met them I was so excited at how cute they were and just knew their photos were going to be adorable. “With my whole heart for my whole life” was the perfect quote at the ceremony to sum up their love for each other. The sweet violin music playing while walking down the ceremony aisle, the sounds of laughter and tears throughout the night, the flowing of Jennifer’s dance on the dance floor when she danced with the love of her life, and of course all of the immaculate details, made this wedding one of my favorites to photograph.
I loved that James’ father was his best man.. and that Jennifer didn’t want to do the usual bouquet toss but her bridesmaids were (teasingly so) upset so she did a small bouquet just for them in a private-bouquet toss during their wedding party photos. There were few dry eyes during the toast when Dad gave his speech. Sweet Jennifer walked up to him and helped him finish it. Friends continued with their speeches with choked up tears in between as friends and family gathered to lift their glass. I loved how she included her brother who had recently passed away in so many parts throughout the day, including her necklace in memory of him along with the table dedicated to those who could not be with them physically. I loved James’ Texas cuff links and Jennifer’s country boots… and her dress. Look at that beautiful vintage and flowy dress, ahh! Their families were so incredibly sweet and kind to us and everyone around them. This group was obviously so close, loving, and just enjoyed the entire day being together celebrating love and their happy ever after.
“Thank you for being here. It means everything to us to be able to share today with you. Thank you for always supporting us an encouraging us. Thanks for loving us in good times and bad. You have taught us what it means to love and be loved. We are forever grateful. You are our most favorite people and we love you. Love, Jennifer and James – April 11, 2015”
