Mini getaway personal post! | Wimberley, TX

If you follow me on social media you may have saw we were out of office for a few weeks during the holidays to rejuvenate from a CRAZY 2016. We have already dove into an even moreeee crazy 2017, and I’m so glad we got the chance to take a few days from our vacation to do a little mini Texas road trip. We went to Austin and drove around the hillside, climbed up Mount Bonnell and saw the breathtaking (literally, huff and puffin’ the whole way up there) view. We stopped at a burger place that my husband loves and then headed on our way to our cabin rental in the woods a few miles of Wimberley. We stayed in a luxury romantic cabin called The Grove  – the owner, Kim, was amazing, she showed us around the cabin when we checked in and how the fancy amenities work. We really enjoyed the fancy coffee maker haha, hot tub pool outside (I want to live there.. or maybe get one for the house?!) under the stars.. it was cold during our stay so we enjoyed the outdoor fireplace each night and made s’mores. There was no TV.. so we played some Scrabble we found in the cabinet! haha. You could see all kinds of birds out of the window from bed during the day.. and the patio lights lit up through the windows and the fireplace from bed at night! There was no detail that was left untouched.

There’s even an outdoor shower.. it seriously felt like we were in another country haha. The bed was SO comfortable, prepare to just want to stay there and never leave. The claw tub bathtub with bath salts. dimly lit.. romance at its finest. You can cook outside and enjoy nature, beautiful birds of all kinds — Kim knew what she was doing when she designed this heavenly space! Even the osmosis water tasted amazing.. we were only 15-20 minutes away from some quaint restaurants and cafes, shops, and little trails we walked around. We visited Jacob’s Well  and fell down a few rocks.. after we brushed off our bruised pride (and butts) we did some more walking around. I loved being secluded and having time to just relax together. Sometimes.. you just have to get away! Oh, and drink wine. Lots of wine. We also thought it was fitting we were on HWY 12 (12 has always been a number that has followed me through my life, so when it pops up it’s always a significance I just know it! haha). When we headed home we went through Gruene to eat at one of our favorite places Gruene River Grill!

I only took a few photos with my actual camera of the cabin bathroom (because I was most obsessed with it for sure) — so the rest are taken with my iPhone 7 plus and edited on my computer!

We look like total dorks.. but it’s okay.

Behind the cabin where we had a few home cooked meals 🙂 We stopped through HEB on the way in and stocked up on a few goodies and meals. My favorite was steak, eggs, and OG in the morning.. and a taco kit one evening <3. The organic light that poured into the room was stunning. These lights dimmed in the evening and the whole cabin was a romantic dream. A woman after my own heart, gold fixtures. I picked up a few books and glanced through them. This was one of my favorite parts. I love interesting bathrooms. She had all organic honey + natural product shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soaps (at the outside shower, too).. and bath salts by the claw tub that she actually rescued from NOLA.
The bath salts smelled so heavenly..She had a thing for mermaids, so she was immediately impressed with my mermaid hair. I liked the natural light that came in during the day from the front of the cabin. No one can see in as it was down a dirt road and path a ways. Total privacy. We drank a lot of wine. A lot, of wine. Enjoying sunset during dinner with my favorite person. Oh look, more wine. There wasn’t a TV, and I didn’t want to go out much/felt like being a recluse. So we played two rounds of Scrabble.. which, took us hours and a husband’s hurt ego. There was red cardinals outside constantly, I love that she incorporated it into the room, too. I’m also a sucker for these rugs. This was my newfound friend Toby, we clicked so I had to take a photo to remember him by. I can’t wait to come back and see him again! The outdoor hot tub/pool with succulents coming through the repurposed rock wall.

I don’t know if I have ever been so clean, the amount of shower, claw tub baths, and hot tub baths I had. But, seeing the stars under this shower was the highlight of my life.

I’m so glad it was warm one day, and cold the next! We got to enjoy beautiful weather and best of both worlds. Cuddling by the fireplace and making s’mores that evening was unforgettable!

When the hubby spoils you… (Yes, I was thirsty.. wine, cappuccino, OG, and osmosis water). We went to a few shops, and this one was my favorite. The hubby picked up a new cologne and I got a gypsy head scarf. We didn’t eat out much since we felt like mostly staying inside and doing the art of nothing at all. But this little cafe we stopped at blew us away. We shared a drink and I couldn’t stop eating this fried chicken.

Because… GYPSY.

The number 12 <3. The restaurant we stopped at in Gruene on the way home was the perfect ending to our little mini getaway. I’m already planning round two 😉
